After two successful pilot years, Somerset’s County Development Programme is set to grow. We are delighted to announce that SASA has agreed to support a further 20 spaces on the CDP to continue in our drive to address the ‘missed middle’ swimmers identified in Swim England’s Heart of Aquatics Listening Exercise – those swimmers who have just missed out on SE Pathways but who are committed to their swimming goals. We will also offer more spaces for the SE County Pathway age group – ie those born in 2013.
To support these swimmers we will be:
- Hiring the whole Millfield swimming complex for our CDP sessions;
- Recruiting 1 CDP Head Coach to work alongside Pat and Rachel;
- Recruiting 4 CDP Deputy Head Coaches; and
- Recruiting 2 CDP Skills Coaches for the first two terms.
In addition, we will be running our Level 1 Assistant Coach Course for Young Volunteers in Term 1 and will be offering graduates from this pool the opportunity to apply for a paid CDP Skills Coach role in Term 3 – see this news story for more details.

CDP Deputy Head Coach Job Description. This role is ideal for someone who is:
- Keen to experience a different coaching environment to their home programme.
- An innovative thinker to continue the process of this revolutionary programme.
- Able to lead 30+ athletes.
CDP Skills Coach (Terms 1 and 2) Job Description. This role is ideal for someone who is:
- Keen to experience a different coaching environment to their home programme.
